Celebrating International Women’s Day

Give to Gain: How My Mum’s Love Shaped My Strength

My mum is truly one of the most incredible women I know, and I feel beyond grateful and blessed to have her in my life. She has always gone above and beyond for me and my siblings, constantly putting our needs before her own and doing everything in her power to make sure we have the best life possible. Growing up, I witnessed the strength, dedication, and sacrifices she made for us. She worked tirelessly so that we could have opportunities, stability, and a future filled with possibilities.

Everything my mum does comes from a place of genuine love. She never does things halfway. When she gives, she gives with her whole heart. Her love shows in the way she takes care of me, the way she listens to me, and the way she always wants to see me succeed. She believes in me even when I sometimes doubt myself, and she constantly reminds me that I am capable of achieving more than I think.

Life Lessons

My mum has always been my safe place. Whenever life feels overwhelming and I need a shoulder to cry on, she is always there without hesitation. She listens with patience, comforts me with kindness, and somehow always finds a way to make me feel better. Even in my hardest moments, she knows how to make me laugh and remind me that everything will be okay. Her presence alone brings peace and reassurance.

She has taught me some of the most important lessons in life. One of the biggest lessons she has given me is resilience. She always tells us that when life gets hard, you do not give up. You keep going. You keep pushing forward. You keep believing that better days will come. Her strength has shown me what it truly means to persevere, to remain strong through challenges, and to never lose hope.

The Power of Unconditional Love

Watching my mum over the years has inspired me more than words can describe. She is the reason I strive to do my best in everything I do. She encourages me and my siblings to dream big, to aim high, and to never let fear or doubt hold us back. She constantly reminds us that we all have potential within us and that we should always try to reach the best version of ourselves.

What makes my mum even more special is that she gives so much of herself without expecting anything in return. She gives her love, her time, her wisdom, and her support so freely. She celebrates our victories as if they are her own, and she stands by us through every challenge we face. Her love is unconditional, and it is something I will forever cherish.

Give to Gain

This is why the theme for International Women’s Day 2026, “Give To Gain,” reminds me so much of her. My mum embodies that message perfectly. She has spent her life giving so much to the people she loves, and because of that, we have gained so much more than we could ever repay. Through her love and sacrifices, we have gained strength, confidence, guidance, and the belief that we can overcome anything.

She is not only my mother but also my best friend, my biggest supporter, and one of my greatest inspirations. My siblings and I are incredibly fortunate to have a woman like her guiding us and loving us unconditionally. There are not enough words in the dictionary to fully describe how strong, compassionate, and amazing she truly is.

If I had the chance to choose my mother in another lifetime, I would choose her again and again without hesitation. Out of everyone in the world, I would still choose her to be my mum.

My mum’s story reminds me that strength does not always look loud or dramatic. Sometimes strength looks like showing up every single day for the people you love. Sometimes it looks like sacrifice, patience, resilience, and unwavering support. Sometimes it looks like believing in others even when they struggle to believe in themselves.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it is important for all of us to reflect on the women who have shaped our lives. It might be a mother, a mentor, a teacher, a sister, or a friend. These women play a powerful role in shaping who we become and the paths we choose to follow.

Give to Grow

The theme “Give To Gain” reminds us of something incredibly powerful: when we give, we also grow. When we support one another, we create stronger communities. When we uplift others, we unlock potential not only in them but also within ourselves.

So let us continue to give kindness. Let us continue to give encouragement. Let us continue to give opportunities. Let us continue to support and empower the women and girls around us. Because when we lift others up, we all rise together.

And if there is one thing my mum has taught me, it is this: never stop believing in yourself. Never stop striving for your dreams. Life will bring challenges, but those challenges do not define you. Your strength, your perseverance, and your determination are what shape your future.

Each of us has the power to make a difference in someone else’s life. Sometimes it is through a small act of kindness, a few words of encouragement, or simply being there for someone when they need support.

Just like my mum has done for me and my siblings throughout our lives.

Together, we empower.

Together, we inspire.

Together, we create change.

And together, we build a world where everyone has the opportunity to grow, succeed, and thrive.
